Cllr Blatchford is being very disingenuous. Whereas it may be technically true that so far only one child is being sent by taxi to Pill the fact remains that 23 children didn’t get a place in Long Ashton and are having to go to school elsewhere.
These kids are still being transported considerable distances at considerable cost.
Obviously no parent wants to put a four year old on a bus but
Sammy’s Story far from being an “extreme case being presented to pull on people's heartstrings” is exactly what will happen when some poor parent isn’t able to drive their child to a school 5 miles away.
We can’t let Blatchford get away with this sort of disinformation. Sadly, it does rather seem to reflect an unacceptable negative attitude from the council.
