Long Ashton school crisis

Lots of children, no school places. We need the council to listen to us now!

02-10-08 Minutes, issue 1.doc

The LASCG Council Working Group met with Councillor Jeremy Blatchford in October to better understand the current status of the LA school crisis, and to be briefed on the solutions being developed by the council. The aim of the meeting was to become involved with the proposed solutions, and attempt to work alongside the council to ensure short term measures are in place by September 2009.

We intend to hold regular meetings with Jeremy Blatchford to maintain involvement with their proposed solutions. Please read the meeting minutes, and email us if you would like to get more involved, have any comments on what was discussed or can help with any of the specific topics raised.

Yep - I've only spoken to them both once but I got a similar impression to you, Hannah. Strange then how people are suddenly telling us how supportive they are!

I tried but neither seemed particularly keen to return my calls. I'm afraid that I came to the conclusion that they were both a total waste of space! Howard Roberts actually commented that his son was now aged 37 and that school issues were therefore well in his past. Not very helpful!! Bob Cook seemed more sympathetic but my impression from the meeting we held with them was that neither really had much of a grasp of the situation or the wider implications. Hope you have better luck!

We are trying to get things going after a bit of a quiet period over the summer. So sorry it wasn't in time for you though after all your hard work. I am also tring to get in touch with Bob Cook and Howard Roberts - did you have much to do with them?

Looks like things may be moving at last. I do hope that something can be sorted for the 2009 admissions.
